Resin Bound Surface Aftercare Guide

Immediately After Installation

Your new surface needs time to fully cure before it is used.

Please allow:

Please do not place heavy objects on the surface during this initial curing period. If we have given you different instructions for your particular installation, please follow the advice provided by the Cherry team.

Regular Cleaning

Resin bound surfaces are low maintenance, but they are not maintenance-free.

We recommend regularly removing:

• Leaves
• Soil and dirt
• Moss and algae
• Berries and fruit
• Other organic debris

A stiff broom and clean water will be sufficient for most routine cleaning.

Pressure Washing

Your resin bound surface can be pressure washed, but it should be done carefully.

When pressure washing:

• Keep the lance approximately 300mm or more from the surface
• Hold the lance at approximately 90 degrees to the surface
• Use a controlled pressure and clean evenly across the area
• Avoid concentrating a high-powered jet on one spot or cleaning extremely close to the surface

Excessive or very close pressure washing can potentially dislodge aggregate from the surface.

Oil, Fuel and Other Spillages

Deal with spillages as quickly as possible. Oil and similar substances can penetrate hard landscaping surfaces if they are left untreated.

For a fresh oil spill:

1. Absorb as much of the spillage as possible without spreading it.
2. Clean the affected area promptly.
3. If required, use a suitable emulsifying degreaser in accordance with the product manufacturer's instructions.
4. Rinse the area thoroughly afterwards.

Avoid allowing petrol, solvents or aggressive chemicals to remain in contact with the resin surface. Certain chemicals and solvents can damage the resin binder.

Weeds, Moss and Algae

Occasional surface weeds can develop from airborne seeds and organic material settling into the surface. This does not necessarily mean weeds are growing through the driveway from underneath.

Small weeds can normally be removed during routine cleaning.

Moss, algae and lichen are more likely to develop in shaded or damp areas, particularly beneath trees. Appropriate treatments can be used, provided the manufacturer's instructions are followed.

Regular sweeping and cleaning will help reduce organic growth.

Tyre Marks

Tyre marks can usually be removed using detergent and hot water with gentle scrubbing. Steam cleaning may also be effective.

Heavy Vehicles, Skips and Point Loads

Your driveway is designed for the type of normal use discussed when your installation was specified.

Take additional care with unusually heavy loads or objects that concentrate a large amount of weight onto a very small area.

In particular:

• Do not place skips directly onto the resin surface without suitable protection
• Avoid dragging heavy objects across the surface
• Take care with sharp or concentrated loads
• Use a suitable board beneath vehicle jacks or similar equipment to spread the load

If you're planning to place an unusually heavy vehicle, skip or other substantial load onto the driveway, please contact us first if you're unsure.

Plant Pots, Furniture and Other Objects

Objects left permanently in the same position can sometimes lead to localised discolouration or staining.

Where possible:

• Use raised plant pots rather than flat-bottomed pots sitting permanently against the surface
• Move pots and furniture periodically
• Avoid leaving storage boxes or other large items permanently covering the resin
• Take care with metal objects that could rust and stain the surface

Rust Marks

Rust staining can sometimes come from metal objects such as garden furniture, plant containers or other items left on the surface.

Natural aggregates can also occasionally contain naturally occurring minerals which produce rust-coloured marks.

Do not automatically use an acidic cleaner. A suitable non-acidic rust stain remover can be used in accordance with its manufacturer's instructions.

Snow and Ice

A properly installed Vuba resin bound surface is designed to cope with normal freeze-thaw conditions.

Take normal care during icy weather and avoid mechanically attacking the surface with sharp tools that could cause damage.

Looking After the Surface Long Term

Regular maintenance is simple:
