Project Overview
Client: Globe Lawn Tennis Club
Location: London NW3
Scope: Resin bound resurfacing of terrace and pathways between courts
Surface System: VubaMac overlay system with resin bound finish in Idaho and Tallahassee by Vuba
Completed: October 2025
Total Area: 267 m²
Creating a seamless, low-maintenance surface for players and spectators
Globe Lawn Tennis Club is a well-established sports venue in North West London. Over time, the existing terrace and pathways between the courts had become uneven and discoloured, detracting from the quality of the facility and making it harder to maintain.
The club’s goal was to upgrade these high-traffic areas with a durable, attractive and SuDS-compliant resin bound surface that would:
- Enhance accessibility for players and visitors
- Complement the clay courts visually
- Provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance finish suitable for year-round use
Preparation and groundwork
Before installation, our team removed a series of old flower beds on the terrace. These sections required new build-up and were reconstructed with a Type 1 MOT aggregate sub-base, compacted to create a strong and even foundation.
The remaining terrace and pathways were suitable for an overlay, so we prepared the existing concrete base and applied the VubaMac system directly on top – ensuring a robust bond while minimising disruption to the surrounding areas.
This combination approach provided both structural integrity where needed and efficiency where the existing base was sound.
Dual-colour resin installation
Across a total area of 267 m², we installed a resin bound surface using two colours from Vuba’s range:
Tallahassee – chosen to match the tone of the club’s clay courts, maintaining visual consistency across the site.
Idaho – used in adjoining areas to subtly define the spectator terrace and access pathways.
New block edgings were installed around the resurfaced areas to match the existing perimeter design, completing a clean and unified look.
The final surface provides a seamless, fully permeable finish that meets Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) compliance, allowing rainwater to drain naturally and improving surface safety in wet conditions.
The final result
The transformation has revitalised the club’s social and viewing spaces, providing a smooth, durable and visually cohesive surface that complements the courts and enhances the overall visitor experience.
The two-tone colour scheme ties the new surfaces into the clay courts perfectly, while the resin system ensures a long service life with minimal maintenance — ideal for busy sporting environments.
